Ministry Share 2023

As you are already aware, we will be calculating all Ministry Share invoices based on real time income as we enter into 2023. Many of our churches have already begun using this process while it will be completely new to others. We are making this change primarily to conform with the method the FMC-USA has asked us to use in calculating the EPP (Equal Participation Plan). We also believe that this new method will benefit most churches by allowing the ebb and flow of Ministry Share expense as income fluctuates. 

The Ministry Shares that we collect from each local church are comprised of two parts (1) EPP that we collect on behalf of FMC-USA (2) Ministry Shares that are retained by the Southern Michigan Conference. In 2023, we will be collecting a total of 8.7% of adjusted church income. Of that 8.7%, 3.2% is passed on to the FMC-USA as EPP payments and 5.5% is retained by the Southern Michigan Conference to fund the SMC’s mission of partnering together to igniter a Spirit-fueled movement of disciples, leaders, and churches.

Below is a link to a one page information sheet related to 2023 Ministry Shares that explains the exclusion items that you will be asked to report each month and a calendar of when those reports will be due. Please note that if you are new to this monthly reporting process, your first monthly report will be due December 31, 2022. You will be reporting November 2022 income to us in that report, and we will use that information to generate your January 2023 invoice.

As a part of this new process, you will be receiving 2 different invoices from SMC. One invoice will contain life insurance amounts and any amounts you have asked us to invoice related to your partnership commitments to world missions, church planting, Somerset Beach Camp, etc. The second invoice will contain Ministry Shares only. You are welcome to send a single check for these two invoices if that is more convenient for you.
